Spruce Street honored as a Vanguard practice in Colorado

On Thursday January 12th Spruce Street was honored for being among the first practices in Colorado to meet Meaningful Use of an electronic medical record. The Meaningful Use Vanguard ceremony was held in Denver.  Dr. Farzad Mostashari, the National Coordinator for Health information Technology within the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology at the U.S. Department of health and Human Services presided. Look for the signed certificate in our waiting room!

Please welcome Anita Moghe, PA-C. Dr. Browne has known Anita for several years. Her hope to practice with Anita has finally been realized. Anita has more than 10 years experience in many different practice settings. Please bear with her as she learns our electronic record.

We have been struggling to reorganize the back office and have finally decided to rotate medical assistants on a monthly basis so each one of us has the opportunity to work with each other. We are all very excited about this change.

Because our electronic records allows us to document so quickly, clearly and conveniently, ANYONE CAN HELP YOU WITH WHATEVER YOU MIGHT NEED. In the past, it was not as easy to document phone calls (we had to grab the chart and write everything down) and as a consequence, when a patient returned a call from the back office, we would all say “who called John Doe?” and try to connect the caller with the originator of the call. Excellent documentation capacity has made this unnecessary.

We have a new portal for sending information including visit summaries, X-ray reports, labs, referrals, etc. When you leave our office after your physical, or have labwork, you will receive an email from Spruce Street Internal Medicine with instructions on how to access your confidential information. If you change your email, please let us know.

We are no longer using RMD(Reach my doctor) because it does not interface with our electronic record.

We have added a Recipe of the Month to our website and are focusing on healthy and easy grain dishes at this time. All recipes have been tested by our staff. If any of you has any suggestions, we will consider them. Please submit recipes, with your name and let us know if it is Ok to use your name on the recipe page.

A note about Generic Medications
Our office policy is to prescribe generic medications wherever possible.

If you prefer non-generic medications, YOU MUST SPECIFY every time that you ask for a refill. Please also understand that your insurance may require a substantially higher copay for non-generic medications.

Certain medications, like anti-depressants, may have a similar but not exact generic forms. In these cases, we will never substitute unless you initiate the discussion and we decide together.
